[ He started off strongly, but got awkward halfway. ]

[ Waving, Saya heads towards the exit. ]

[ He waves back, but his goodbye takes a few seconds longer. ]

[ She's gone... All that's left with him is his penguin cybuddy.

He switches it on and it spends the rest of his shift attacking him with its tiny blunt sword. ]

[ It's not like I want you to pay attention to me...! Unfortunately for Yata, the penguin's programmed to be a tsundere because that's what the most popular personality type is at the moment.

True to her word, Saya arrives five minutes earlier, quietly looking in to see if the store's crowded so she can decide whether to wait inside. ]

[ It's not full, but it's not that empty, either; most of the customers are in the tea area of the shop. Yata finishes up dealing with another customer before greeting Saya enthusiastically with a wave. ]

[rollin]

[ Was... that too forward? He slowly lowers his hand...

The penguin can be found sitting in a corner with its arms crossed. ]

[ Not at all! She smiles in return. ]

Yata-senpai! I'm a little early, but if it's okay, can I wait inside?

[rollin]

[ STOP SMILING. Yata somewhat mumbles as he rubs the back of his neck. ]

It's not like I'd make you wait outside... Hey, I got a question about that guy.

Why's he ignoring me?

[ She steps inside and looks over at the penguin. ]

Eh? Is he ignoring you, senpai?

[rollin]

He wanted the flower I was lookin' after a while ago, so I gave it to him. Then he turned away! It pisses me off.

[ The penguin is holding a blue morning glory. ]

[ Maybe he just really likes the colour blue? ]

Umm, I think they said his personality was set to "tsundere".

[rollin]

Why're they selling robots with annoying personality types? [ yata ] Ah, not that it's annoying, but...

[ He took it back because Saya was here... ]

[ She looks worriedly behind, but it's following them! ]

[ He only murmurs this in a tone of disgust as he glances behind him. Then, in a louder voice: ]

[ He chuckles. ]

'Course not, dummy. It's a robot. [ But their eyes meet, and it's a little awkward for him. Just a little. ] So, uh...

[ His last word hangs in the air as he looks at the sky for an answer WHY DIDN'T YOU COME UP WITH CONVERSATION MATERIAL EARLIER!! YOU IDIOT!!! ]

[ He called her a dummy?! But it looks like a real animal, so...

Their eyes meet, and he looks away. ]

Hmm? [ His last word makes it sound like he wants to tell her something, so she tilts her head curiously. ] Yes?

[rollin]

[ Although he isn't looking anymore, his ears are still red as she talks to him. ]

I-it's nothing! I was just wondering what your favorite animal was.

[ It was the first thing on his mind. ]

[alpako]

Favourite animal, hmm...

[ A finger to her chin, she thinks about it. She's not sure, but--spotting an alpaca plushie in a store window, she smiles and nods. ]

I've only seen them on tv before, but I think alpacas are really cute! But I'm not sure if they're my favourite though...

[ Which doesn't answer his question, huh? Her face falls again, as she thinks about it. ]

A chin...chilla, maybe?

Chinchilla? Those are the mouse things, right?
